OBTAINING CERTIFIED COPIES OF A DEATH CERTIFICATE
Certified copies of a death certificate can be obtained at the city or town clerk’s office in the city or town where the person has passed away. They are usually available immediately after the certificate is filed, however for some larger cities the process takes a few days to be completed. Certified copies of the death certificate can be requested either in person at the clerk’s office or by mail. There is a fee for each copy that is usually between $10 and $20.
