Simplicity Cremation

Our $1,850 Simplicity Cremation includes everything required for cremation in Massachusetts*, with no additional fees. Here is what’s included:

  • Knowledgeable and compassionate professionals leading the process
  • Removal of the deceased from the place of death or Medical Examiner’s office
  • Respectful and legally-compliant sheltering of deceased*
  • Management and filing of forms and legal documents
  • Legally required cremation container
  • Transportation to a trusted, Massachusetts-licensed crematory*
  • All associated cremation fees
  • Sheltering of cremated remains for 1 year

*In Massachusetts, the law requires a mandatory 48-hour waiting period prior to cremation. In addition, the Medical Examiner must sign a Cremation Authorization and certify that cremation may proceed. Crematories in Massachusetts may only be legally owned and operated by a licensed cemetery. Cemeteries that own and operate a crematory are restricted to providing the overall cremation service.

A: Our cremation services cost $1,850 with no extra charges. Our complete cremation service includes our professional transportation team picking up your loved one, all necessary city/state/federal paperwork, cremation transportation unit, crematory cost, delivery to and pick-up from a licensed Massachusetts crematory, cremated remains container, plus our professional services all for $1,850. *Additional transportation ferry cost for Nantucket and Martha Vineyard and the cost of mailing cremains.

Q: Do you perform the cremation?

A: No. It is important to know that only cemeteries can own a crematory in Massachusetts. No cremation or funeral service provider can own a crematory. Cemeteries that have a crematory can only do the cremation portion of the overall service.

Q: After death, when can a cremation take place?

A: In Massachusetts, there is a 48-hour waiting period before cremation can take place. The Medical Examiner must sign a cremation authorization and certify that a cremation may take place.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept all major credit cards and checks. We review with you every possible and available benefit.

Q: What is the first call if a loved one dies at home?

A: If your loved one is under at-home hospice care, call your hospice provider. If not under hospice care, you need to call 911.

Q: Are cremations done individually?

A: All cremations in Massachusetts are completed individually. We use only licensed Massachusetts crematories.

Q: Under Massachusetts law, explain a funeral home and a crematory’s role in a cremation?

A: There is a clear separation between a funeral home and a crematory in Massachusetts. A Massachusetts-licensed funeral home manages all cremation planning and services, while a licensed crematory performs the cremation. The cremains are then returned to the funeral home for family pickup or mailing.

Q: Do you use refrigeration when sheltering our loved one?

A: Yes, we have state-of-the-art funeral refrigeration.

Q: Can I pre-plan and pre-pay for a “Simplicity” cremation?

A: Call us at 800-314-1890. Once arrangements are completed, there are no additional costs. Funds are placed in a Massachusetts-regulated trust account under your name.
